This year I attended my first book festival as an author. So I’m sharing my Literature & Lattes Recap with you today. First off, consider yourselves fortunate. You are among the favored few I will dare to appear in a picture for. Seriously, I hate having my picture taken. So here you go. I grit my teeth and let others snap these shots just for you. The Literature & Lattes South Dakota Book Event was such a great experience! Paula and Myja Miller founded the event and did a fantastic job welcoming all the authors, and spoiling us with their volunteers from TeenPact. Overall, Literature & Lattes’s second year closed with much success. It proved an excellent learning experience for me, and a great venue to network with other authors. Not to mention one of the highlights of the day–meeting a fellow author and Clan member, Claudia LeBoeuf!

I also had the pleasure of meeting her friend, Katelyn Pfeiffer, who I suspect I’ve seen before, possibly at the 2024 Novel Marketing Conference.

It was amazing how many Novel Marketing/Author Social connections I met there!
Being avid fans of Sci-Fi and Fantasy also, my husband made sure to purchase copies of their books to add to our TBR piles. You can learn more about Claudia and her books here.

Literature & Lattes Experiences

Of course, my Viking sword, Sáreldr, was the hit piece of the table. A great conversation starter, for sure, and only one of two swords present at the entire event. Yes, several asked if it was for sale. No, I didn’t let them buy it. It’s my precious!

The event took place in the grand ballroom of the Denny Sanford Convention Center in Sioux Falls, SD. The pictures above don’t really capture the entire scope of the place. Still, you can see it was pretty big. While I missed out on most of Friday’s events this time, I look forward to returning in the future and attending both days. It’s a two day event with the first day consisting of classes and author panels, along with an evening meet and greet. The last day is devoted entirely to the book event.

I highly recommend it for readers and authors alike!
